The Stoke-on-Trent Health and Wellbeing Board are producing a draft Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA) that aims to help make sure all residents have good access to local pharmacy services. The PNA looks at the current provision of pharmaceutical services across Stoke-on-Trent and whether this meets the needs of the population and identifies any potential gaps to service delivery. The final version will be published later this year.
The last PNA was produced in 2022 and by law, all Health and Wellbeing Boards in England must publish a new PNA every three years.
The PNA will be used by NHS England to consider applications to open a new pharmacy, or to commission additional services from existing pharmacies as well as by local commissioners to identify and commission services from community pharmacies as appropriate. The draft PNA is now available to read and consider, and we welcome feedback and comments to help inform the final version.
Please send any comments to: phintel@stoke.gov.uk
The consultation will run until 1st September 2025.
