Stoke-on-Trent City Council supporting the 'Make a Difference' campaign

Crest Published: Wednesday, 15th January 2025

Stoke-on-Trent City Council are encouraging local residents to 'Make a Difference' by participating in a brand new campaign.

'Make a Difference, Work for your Local Council' is a new campaign showing how a career in local government can directly and positively impact the lives of people in the community.

Stoke-on-Trent City Council is amongst the many local councils across the country that are promoting the campaign with the hope of finding the difference-makers of the future - whether they wish to specialise in social care for adults or children, planning, environmental health, or finance.

The full roll-out of the campaign follows a successful pilot in the North East. It covers a huge variety of roles across the entire spectrum of council services. People from all backgrounds and skill levels are invited to get involved and learn more about the huge variety of fulfilling opportunities on offer with Stoke-on-Trent City Council.

The campaign is a collaboration between the Local Government Association (LGA), Solace, Regional Employers Organisations, and a large number of city councils across the country. The Government is funding the campaign, which comes at a time when over 90 per cent of the UK's city councils are facing challenges in recruiting and retaining employees.

Councillor Jane Ashworth, leader of Stoke-on-Trent City Council, said: "This is an exciting campaign that has the potential to launch rewarding careers in local government which also provide a platform to help those in the local community.

"We are fully committed to helping local people enhancing their knowledge and skills over time, and we hope to play a crucial role in shaping the futures of those who successfully apply.

"We invite anyone who may be interested to get in touch today and find out how they can Make a Difference."
