A brand-new app has been launched, offering increased digital access to Stoke-on-Trent Libraries.
The Stoke-on-Trent Libraries app will offer people the opportunity to join the library, discover new books, reserve books, find out more about events plus discover if titles are available in libraries via a barcode scanning function.
The investment into increased digital elements of libraries comes after Stoke-on-Trent City Council secured £20,500 from the LibraryOn grant last year.
Supported by Arts Council England and facilitated by the British Library, the LibraryOn fund enables library services to boost their digital presence and enhance their discoverability for new and existing users.
Councillor Alastair Watson, cabinet member for Financial Sustainability and Corporate Resources said:
“The new libraries app will complement services currently in place across our six libraries.
“We want people in Stoke-on-Trent to benefit from our libraries as much as possible at their own convenience. The app will allow members to find out more about what’s going on in libraries plus if titles are in stock before they visit."
Stoke-on-Trent Libraries have worked with leading software developer Axiell and library app developer Solus UK to bring the app to life.
Rebecka Höjeberg, Sales Manager at Axiell said:
“Axiell are a proud to be a leading developer for digital library services and it's been a pleasure for us to work alongside Stoke-on-Trent Libraries to make their services more accessible and user-friendly for their customers.
“The new library app will make library collections and services more visible and we hope that library customers love interacting with this new service for many years to come.
The Stoke-on-Trent Libraries app can be downloaded from Android and iPhone app stores now.
