Armed Forces Day Parade in the Park returns to Longton

The popular free Armed Forces Day Parade in the Park returns to Longton’s Queen’s Park this weekend (Sunday 30 June 2024) between 1pm and 4pm.

The Armed Forces Day celebration event is organised by the North Staffs Armed Forces Celebration Committee and runs in association with Queen’s Park Partnership.

There will be army vehicles and armed forces displays alongside various stalls for Armed Forces and Veterans.

The event will be compered by Tim Wedgwood of BBC Radio Stoke and includes:

 

1pm – Event starts with music by Penkhull Brass Band

1.45pm - Parade detachments will form up at top gates of the park

2pm - Parade will start, led by C Company, Corps of Drums from Staffordshire & West Midlands (NS) Army Cadet Force

2.15pm - Drumhead Service, led by Revd. Geoff Eze, featuring The Penkhull Brass Band

3pm - Tribute to WWII, singalong with the String of Pearls

3.45pm - Sounds Familiar, 60s and 70s tribute group

4.30pm – Close

We work closely with our partners to support our veterans and those with a connection to the Armed Forces. This includes the city council being Armed Forces Covenant Gold Award winners. Thank you to the North Staffs Armed Forces Celebration Committee and Queen’s Park Partnership for planning this fantastic, and very popular, event.”

Any member of the armed forces, veteran associations, cadets or schools are welcome to parade and should form up at 1.45pm at the park’s top gates.
