Improvement works to a junction in Trent Vale, along the A34, covering Newcastle Road, Clayton Lane, and Godwin Way, will start on Monday, 26 February.
Works will take approximately eight weeks and see improvements to network efficiency, junction operation, and the introduction of pedestrian crossings at the junction of Godwin Way and the north side of Newcastle Road.
Traffic Management will include temporary signals and lane closures whilst works take place, and will include a night time road closure of Clayton Lane and Godwin Way towards the end of the works. A diversion route will be in place for overnight closures. The closure will enable carriageway surfacing and road marking to take place safely for our highway staff.
Councillor Amjid Wazir, cabinet member for city pride, enforcement and sustainability, said: “All road users are being asked for their patience during this time. These road improvement works will help ease traffic congestion along this route and make it safer for pedestrians. The changes will ultimately form part of the Local Transport Plan.”
Motorists are being urged to plan their travel in advance.
