Winter garden waste collections for 2023/24

Published: Wednesday, 11th October 2023

Collections will start from Wednesday 1 November and will run until Friday 29 March 2024 for just £15 per bin.

Residents across Stoke-on-Trent can now sign up to receive bin collections all year round.

Stoke-on-Trent City Council has announced the winter garden waste subscription service dates for 2023/24, which means green-fingered residents can now sign up to have garden waste collected across the winter months.

Collections will start from Wednesday 1 November and will run until Friday 29 March 2024 for just £15 per bin.

Cllr Amjid Wazir, cabinet member for City Pride, Environment, and Enforcement said: “Many authorities around the country charge for year-round garden waste collections, and while garden waste collections are not a statutory service for authorities to provide, we want to ensure those residents who need year-round collections, have access to it.”

The scheme which launched in 2019 has helped support keen gardeners across the city all year round. Last year, Stoke-on-Trent City Council processed over 11900 tonnes of garden waste into compost and mulch.

Garden waste bins are for small branches, hedge cuttings, garden plant waste, grass cuttings, and fruit and veg waste.

Residents will need to present their garden waste bins on their usual recycling bin collection day.
