An opening date has been announced for the brand-new City Central Library which will be based at Two Smithfield.
The library, which is relocating to the Smithfield site from its previous home on Bethesda Street, will open its doors on Monday 23 October from 9am.
The new library will house a wide selection of fiction and non-fiction books, plus access to PCs and WiFi throughout the new library space.
On the ground floor there will also be a deluxe reading space, dedicated to children’s books, where the extremely popular singing and bouncing bears sessions can take place plus Lego clubs and other family activities.
Opening times for City Central Library are as follows:
Mondays – 9am – 12:30pm then 1:30pm-5pm
Tuesdays - 9am – 12:30pm then 1:30pm-5pm
Wednesdays - 9am – 12:30pm then 1:30pm-6pm
Thursdays - 9am – 12:30pm then 1:30pm-6pm
Fridays - 9am – 12:30pm then 1:30pm-5pm
Saturdays – 10am – 2pm
Cllr Jane Ashworth, Leader of Stoke-on-Trent City Council said:
“We are delighted to be opening the doors to our brand-new City Central Library at Two Smithfield.
“This space will be a magnet for families, just in time for October half term week, including the launch of a special Christmas writing competition for budding young scribes between the ages of 4-11.
“City Central Library will remain in close proximity to The Potteries Museum & Art Gallery, meaning families can have a full cultural excursion between both sites."
