The new path-way will enable cyclists and walkers to shortcut through from Speedwall Street, via Wood Street, to access the lower end of Anchor Road and Longton Town Centre.
Longton now better connected for cyclists and walkers
Pathways connecting Gladstone School and Longton Town Centre have now been reinstalled.
Following a longstanding issue with erosion, teams were able to get the work completed in a couple of weeks.
The new path-way will enable cyclists and walkers to shortcut through from Speedwall Street, via Wood Street, to access the lower end of Anchor Road and Longton Town Centre.
Councillor James Smith, cabinet member for Infrastructure, Heritage, and Development Management, said: “This new route will help pedestrians avoid a busy road, help parents and young children to navigate safely. It’s a great achievement to be able to connect this area with Longton Town Centre.”
New drainage works have also been installed at the end of Speedwall Street to control surface water run-off.
