Westport Lake refurbishment
Stoke-on-Trent City Council have almost finished refurbishment works at Westport Lake play area which will reopen on Thursday 4 August.
As part of the refurbishment, new play equipment includes the replacement of new large structures, a brand-new picnic area, new space net and cargo swing on the green and surfacing has been replaced.
The works started in May and due to some delays with materials and adverse weather conditions, reopening has been delayed by a week.
Cllr Carl Edwards, cabinet member for housing and environment has said: “Westport Lake has had the revamp it deserves. The park is very popular and we are pleased to be able to reopen for the summer holidays. We thank regular visitors for their patience during the works.
Public playgrounds are an important feature in all communities, available for all to enjoy. Having access to quality outdoor space, with fresh air and a safe place to exercise is invaluable. We are extremely fortunate to have some beautiful parks in the city.”
Westport Lake now boasts a brand-new play area, woodland conservation area, wildflower meadow and is an over winter site for many migrating birds.
