Appeal against your food hygiene rating

Food businesses have a right to appeal food hygiene ratings given following inspection if they do not agree the rating reflects the hygiene standards and management controls found at the time of the inspection.

You have 21 days including weekends and bank holidays from the date you receive your inspection report to lodge an appeal.

Food businesses also have a right to reply to the food hygiene rating given to them. This is so you can explaing what you have done to make the improvements asked for in the inspection report, or to explain circumstances at the time of the inspection. It is not for making complaints or for criticising the scheme or the food safety officer.

To appeal against your food hygiene rating or send a food business right to reply, please email public.protection@stoke.gov.uk.
