Smokefree penalties

It is illegal to smoke in all enclosed or mainly-enclosed public areas and workplaces. It includes smoking in vehicles which serve the public or are used for work purposes. Appropriate no smoking signs must be clearly placed in all smoke free premises and vehicles.

If you have been given a penalty notice under the smokefree laws, you can pay it here for:

  • not displaying a no-smoking sign in smokefree premises or vehicles
  • smoking in a smokefree place or vehicle
