What’s happening and what this means for residents – 31st March 2026 legislation states that food waste will have to be segregated from other wastes at source. In effect this means that each house will have two caddies delivered prior to March 31st to allow residents to capture and segregate food waste, these caddies will consist of one internal and one external to be collected on a weekly basis. The internal caddie will be supplied with a roll of bags to house the waste to help with odours and this can be then decantated into the larger external caddie to be emptied.

 

How I will get a bin / liners – These will be delivered to each property prior to the commencement date. Residents can purchase additional bin liners from most supermarkets. 

 

Collection info – Food waste will be collected on a weekly basis

 

Collection locations – Residents will be expected to present the external caddy kerbside each week as they currently do with their current waste bins

 

Handy tips for storing caddies –  The external caddies are approx. 25ltr in size. The smaller caddie will be designed to sit on a workcounter.
