Illegal Dumping In Our Towns (I.D.I.O.T)

Recycling/donating large household items

Are you replacing old furniture, such as dining room tables, sofas, bed frames, and chairs?

There are lots of ways you can donate unwanted items:

  • Donate to a local charity

Last year alone, Emmaus saved over 400 tonnes of furniture going to landfill or ending up illegally dumped. Visit Emmaus or the British Heart Foundation to find out how you can book a local collection.

  • Facebook

Someone in your local community could really benefit from your item – providing it has a little life left in it! You can often advertise unwanted items on Facebook community pages.

  • Community groups

Reach out to community groups in your local area, many volunteer ran groups are always looking for donations.

  • Bulky waste collection

Each year, thousands of tonnes of perfectly usable items are discarded on the streets. If you have large items that someone else could benefit from, consider the above options, alternatively arrange a bulky waste collection from the council.
