Tell us you've moved home

Moving within Stoke-on-Trent

You must tell us if you are moving within Stoke-on-Trent.

After you have told us, we will:

  • send you a bill if you still owe us any money
  • refund or transfer the credit if you have overpaid

If you have not received a refund or credit within 28 working days, you can request a Council Tax refund online.

The easiest way to tell us you are moving within Stoke-on-Trent is through the MyStoke account.

Before you start

You must have your Council Tax billing reference number to hand. You can usually find this on any correspondence, bills or statements that we've sent to you. If you don't know your account number, you can request it here.

If you are changing your address because you have bought or sold a property, you will need to know the completion date of any property bought or sold.

You will also need to provide either:

  • the name of the person or organisation who has bought your previous property, if relevant

or

  • your solicitor's details

If you are changing your address because you are beginning or ending a rental tenancy, you will need your:

  • tenancy start and end dates
  • landlord's or managing agent's details

How to tell us about this change

  1. Log into your MyStoke account
  2. Select Council Tax Online
  3. Under the Tell us you have moved home section, select I am within the City.

To access this service, sign in to your MyStoke account.

Register Sign in

If your Council Tax Online account is not yet verified, you will need to upgrade it when you sign in. You will be asked to verify some personal details before your can access your account online.

Tell us about a change of address without a MyStoke account

What happens next?

We'll close your old account and send you a bill for what you still owe. If you have overpaid we can transfer the credit to the account for your new address or refund it to you. Your new bill will tell you what your new installments will be.
