Moving out of Stoke-on-Trent
You will need to tell us the:
- current address you live in
- new address you will be moving to
- dates of when you will be moving out of Stoke-on-Trent
If you have not received a refund within 28 working days, you can request a Council Tax refund online.
The easiest way to tell us you are moving out of Stoke-on-Trent is through the MyStoke account.
Before you start
You must have your Council Tax billing reference number to hand. You can usually find this on any correspondence, bills or statements that we've sent to you. If you don't know your account number, you can request it here.
If you are changing your address because you have bought or sold a property, you will need to know the completion date of any property bought or sold.
You will also need to provide either:
- the name of the person or organisation who has bought your previous property, if relevant
or
- your solicitor's details
If you are changing your address because you are beginning or ending a rental tenancy, you will need your:
- tenancy start and end dates
- landlord's or managing agent's details
How to tell us about this change
- Log into your MyStoke account
- Select Council Tax Online
- Under the Tell us you have moved home section, select I am moving out of the City.
Sign in to your MyStoke account
To access this service, sign in to your MyStoke account.
If your Council Tax Online account is not yet verified, you will need to upgrade it when you sign in. You will be asked to verify some personal details before your can access your account online.
Tell us about a change of address without a MyStoke account
What happens next?
We will send a closing account to your new address. You will need to tell the council where you are moving to that you have moved into their area so that they can register you for council tax.
