Watercolours for Beginners | |
Who is this for? | This course is for any learners that want to progress from Sketching and Drawing for Beginners or Painting for Beginners. It should also be open to other learners that wish to join, however some skills with paint are necessary before the course begins. |
Entry requirements | Learners have minimal prior knowledge of painting.Learners should have the expectation set that some skills will be contemporary and some will be traditional Learners need to understand they will not be master painters by the end of the course. |
What will I learn? | Session 1: Watercolour Basics This session takes learners through the basic set up of painting with watercolours. Session 2: Adding Mediums There are different ways in which to enhance using watercolours, including the use of gum Arabic, resists, tapes and using non-conventional applications to create texture. Session 3: Starting your outcome This is an experimental session for learners to consider the way in which they will approach a final outcome painting, including the ways in which they could incorporate the techniques that have been learned in the previous session. Session 4: Outcome In this session learners complete a watercolour painting on a theme of their own choice. This session assesses their ability to use all of the information that they have been taught about the medium over the past three weeks, resulting in a finished piece. |
What do I need to bring? | Learners need to bring: Pen or pencil Watercolour Paper Watercolours (Tubes or Pans) Watercolour brushes All other materials and resources are provided for them |
