Drawing and Sketching Beginners
Who is this for? This course is for anyone that enjoys art and wants to learn some new practises or simply wants to know where to begin.
Entry requirementsLearners should be able to use a pencil and paper to draw. Learners should have the expectation set that some skills will be contemporary and some will be traditional. Learners need to understand they will not be master draughtsmen by the end of the course.
What will I learn? You will be introduced to traditional ways to draw using perspective (then you're going to look at the best ways to make those traditional methods your own). Positive and negative space in artwork can have a big impact on the work produced. We'll look at scale and space, sampling different methods to make the most of your work. Living life colourfully is given new meaning in this session as you explore the colour wheel, consider the psychological impact of colour and how much colour is enough. Drawing and sketching doesn't have to stop at the sketchbook. In this session you will be shown tips, tricks and techniques that can embellish and enhance your work, guiding it towards a larger finished outcome. Printing as a form of sketching and drawing is a much under-rated technique. In this session you will look at printing and drawing combined to achieve unique outcomes. Learn the rules like a pro, so you can break them like an artist Pablo Picasso!
What do I need to bring?Sketchpad (A4 or A3)
Course fee£67.00
Benefit claimant fee£54.00
Ask about additional concessions if earning under £25,000
