The School Admissions Code requires all local authorities to have a Fair Access Protocol.
For most children, applications for in-year admission are straightforward, but if children are unplaced and vulnerable, or there is difficulty in securing a school place in-year, the Fair Access Protocol ensures that a school place is found as quickly as possible, which can include agreeing a place in a school that is full.
The Local Authority’s Fair Access Protocol, which applies from 12 June 2023, can be downloaded below.
