Notification of bridge maintenance Works and traffic disruption: Arbourfield Drive

Structural maintenance works are programmed to be carried out to the bridge that carries Arbourfield Drive over the greenway, near to Eaton Park Academy.

The repair works to the bridge are required to replace the waterproofing system and joints which will help prevent deterioration and damage to the bridge deck. In order to carry out these works we need to remove the road and footway surfacing over the bridge; on completion of the works the highway layout will not change.

One of the primary challenges we face for this scheme is that the bridge is the sole highway link to the Eaton Park Estate and to this end, we propose to carry the works out in two-phases; keeping one running lane of traffic and one footway open at all times. We acknowledge that despite our best efforts, the works will inevitably cause disruption to traffic movements and local residents and business, especially during peak traffic hours and school opening/closing times.

The works will take approximately 10 weeks and we are working to complete them before the new school terms starts in September 2024. We plan to start the works Monday 24 June 2024 to enable the majority of the works to be complete during the six-weeks school summer holidays to hopefully minimise the impact of the works.

We will be liaising with local residents, the primary school, local businesses within the estate, emergency services, and other relevant stakeholders to discuss and notify them of the upcoming scheme.

We have appointed Galliford Try Infrastructure Ltd to carry out these works.
