Illegal dumping in our towns (I.D.I.O.T)
Find out more about our campaign to stop Illegal dumping in our towns.
Help us to keep our city a place we can be proud of by correctly disposing of waste and telling us about dumped rubbish. Fly-tipping is illegally dumping your rubbish and waste. This can be next to a public bin, a street corner, any public street, alleyway, grass verge or public land.
Fly-tipping commonly includes:
- Black bin bags
- Items of furniture
- Mattresses
- DIY material.
Report fly-tipping
You can report fly-tipping online, on this website. You don't have to give your details, but if you log into your MyStoke account you will be able to track our progress.
What happens next?
Due to the high amount of demand we're currently handling, it may take us up to 30 days to remove fly-tipping. Thank you for your patience.
Sometimes there can be a delay while we run checks to find out who owns the land or due to different equipment being needed to collect certain items.
If there is evidence or a witness for a case of fly-tipping on either public or private land, we can investigate and prosecute all offenders caught.
Fly-tipping on private land
It is the responsibility of the land owner(s) to clear fly-tipping on private land. If an area of private land is very untidy and becoming a nuisance in the neighbourhood, you can report this here and we can use enforcement powers to investigate.
Dangerous items
If there is an immediate and serious threat to safety from rubbish that has been dumped, please get in touch by telephone so we can respond accordingly.
