What is Shopmobility?
Shopmobility is a service that hires mobility equipment for use in the City Centre (Hanley). It also offers free parking to customers. It allows members to use the City Centre’s facilities independently.
Where is Shopmobility location?
19 Lichfield Street, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, ST1 3AS. When using a Sat Nav, please enter ST1 3JN. This will take you to the entrance of Birch Terrace Car Park, where you will park your vehicle.

You can contact us about the service during the following times:
Monday 10am to 4:45pm
Tuesday 10am to 4:45pm
Wednesday 10am to 4:45pm
Thursday 10am to 4:45pm
Friday 10am to 4:45pm
Saturday 10am to 4:45pm
What kind of equipment is available to hire?
Shopmobility has a wide range of mobility equipment available to hire, including:
- Electric Scooters (suitable for people up to 35 stone)
- Electric Wheelchairs and;
- Manual Wheelchairs
Our staff will assess your needs and recommend suitable equipment.
How long can the equipment be hired for?
Providing the equipment is returned by 4:45 pm on the day it was hired, you can use it for as long as you need. Please tell the Shopmobility staff if you wish to make a long or short visit. This allows them to book other people onto the equipment once you have returned it.
Equipment must be returned on the day of hire as we do not have the facilities to rent mobility equipment to people over night.
Where can I use the equipment?
You can use the equipment in the city centre only. Please see the map attached to the bottom of this page for further details.

What if I have never used the equipment before?
Don’t worry, the Shopmobility staff will show you how to operate whatever you’re using. You can practice until you feel comfortable enough to take it into the city centre.
Is there a hire charge to use the equipment?

Can I make a donation or sponsor the equipment?
Shopmobility welcomes and relies on sponsorships and donations for equipment maintenance and running costs.
Equipment sponsorships can provide an effective source of mobile advertising, as a plaque is displayed on the piece of equipment for up to 12 months.
